The role of the Ecumenical Patriarch should be much stronger in the case of Montenegro, and he, as the greatest authority in Orthodoxy, should take responsibility and, together with the issue of the Macedonian Orthodox Church, resolve the issue of the Orthodox Church in Montenegro, believes political analyst Zlatko Vujovic.
He assessed that the current situation is unsustainable because, as he said, “a huge part of the Orthodox population cannot use churches and monasteries and is not welcome in them.”
– This is something that contradicts the idea of Orthodoxy and it is to be expected that the Ecumenical Patriarch will resolve the issue of the Montenegro Orthodox Church (CPC), which existed for such a long time, by resolving the issue of autocephaly of the Macedonian Orthodox Church and taking away the Tomos of the Serbian Orthodox Church, which gave it jurisdiction over the territory of the former Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenians – said Vujović for Antena M.
He believes that Montenegro needs a solution that will be sustainable, conciliatory and that will in some way enable the Orthodox population in Montenegro to enjoy their religious rights and freedoms without any problems.
